FAQs

The Basics

Q: How does Indie Film Composers work?

A: IFC is a music production entity which subcontracts composition out to our worldwide affiliates. IFC acts as the executive producer of the score. This guarantees consistent production values and an optimized creative environment across a wide spectrum of projects, artists and locales. And you'll never have an IFC composer slough off your indie film score onto their $8-an-hour assistant. Remember that awful score you heard last week? It happens all the time in Hollywood.

Q: What kind of music do you offer?

A: As varied as the film world itself: full orchestral scores, midi scores, ethnic/folk acoustic ensembles, pop music soundtracks, ambient/techno...you name it, we got it. Not to mention the authentic and unique in-country music afforded by our various composers all over the world. Try getting that sound locally or even in L.A.

Q: I need a great composer for my indie film. What next?

A: Contact us and give us the particulars of your film's needs: the content, budget, post timetable, etc. We generally would like to see the shooting script to further evaluate the project. Your ideas on musical direction are very important to us and aid us in narrowing the field for the right composer.

Q: Then what?

A: We'll respond with our recommendations for composer, accompanied by samples of their work.

Q: What'll this cost me?

A: Nothing.
